Dry skin versus dehydrated skin - differences and solutions 2

Although we tend to use them interchangeably, dry skin and dehydrated skin are two different things. Here's what we mean.

Why skin becomes dry

It may sound bizarre, but the skin doesn't dry out due to a lack of fluids. Studies comparing the structure of oily skin with normal or dry skin do not indicate notable differences in water content. In fact, healthy skin should contain about 30% water. Therefore, the solution for luminous skin does not lie in consuming larger quantities of liquids.

The problem arises from an imbalance in the skin, specifically the epidermis's inability to maintain hydration levels within normal limits. This irregularity is often attributed to harmful sun exposure or the use of aggressive skincare products. To avoid adverse reactions from the skin, it is recommended to use products made from 100% natural ingredients. For example, the healing elixir for the skin from Sabio is suitable for all skin types and contains only pure and gentle substances such as thyme essential oil, chamomile, lemon, or apricot kernel oil.

Why skin become dehydrated

Dehydrated skin is a temporary condition caused by climate changes or the use of products incompatible with one's skin. It is often a mystery – for example, using an alcohol-based product can leave the skin non-elastic and dry, even if it normally tends to be oily. In other words, it dehydrates the skin without actually solving the initial problem. By discontinuing the use of the alcohol-based product, the skin would return to its normal state before acquiring the respective cream/lotion.

The good news is that, generally, dehydrated skin can be corrected much easier than dry skin. However, you need to find the most hydrating formula on the market and use it wisely – at least once a day, 365 days a year. We highly recommend body butter, which, despite its name, will be absorbed very quickly by the skin, leaving it softer than ever!
