MINT, pure essential oil (mentha arvensis leaf oil)

It has been used for centuries for chasing away indigestion and bloating, due to its carminative properties. Being naturally anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory, it is very effective in treating the symptoms of cold and flue, like sinus congestion or infection. It is a natural decongestive and it helps in freeing the nasal airways.

It improves the immunity of the organism and it is known for its powerful antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal effects. In its composition we find camphor, menthol and carvacrol, resisting to bacteria strains like E. coli, salmonella and staphylococci infections.

It is extremely useful in hair care, due to its antiseptic, regenerative and stimulating effect; it can treat the scalp in case of irritations, it can stimulate hair growth and it gives hair a bright appearance.

Inspiration for its use

For nausea: mix 1-2 drops in a carrier oil and massage behind the ears or apply 1 drop on every wrist.

For stomach aches, indigestion or bloating: mix 2-3 drops in a table spoon of carrier oil and massage the stomach area.

For colds: add 8-10 drops of essential oil in a container with hot water, hold the head covered with a towel over it and inhale for 5 to 10 minutes.

Important information for the safe use of the product:

• the essential oil is a product which should not be used as such on the skin, but only diluted in a vegetal oil or butter or as an ingredient in various cosmetic or aromatherapy preparations.
• make a test before using the product, in the bend of the elbow, at least 24 hours before use;
• avoid the use by hypertensive persons, pregnant or breast-feeding women;
• the usual dosage in cosmetic preparations is of 0.5-2%.
• to be stored well closed and to be kept away from children.
• do not swallow. If swallowed by mistake, rinse well the mouth with milk and drink a large glass of milk. Seek immediate medical help.
• do not apply it in the eyes or the nose. If it touches the eyes or a mucous membrane, rinse well with sufficient milk and seek medical help.
• if after applying on the skin a product containing essential oil irritations/itching/discomfort appear, immediately apply a vegetable oil on the area in order to dilute the concentration of essential oil.

Storage: since the essential oil does not contain fat acids, it is not susceptible to oxidation (rancid turning), as vegetal oils and butters, but additional measures must be taken in order to protect it from the degenerative effects of the light, heat and air. It should be stored in a dark closed glass container, away from any source of heat. If kept under appropriate conditions, the essential oil will maintain its qualities for a long time.
